The University of Windsor Lancer Track and Field program had an outstanding showing at the Athletics Ontario U20, Senior and Para Championships as incoming recruits, current student-athletes, and alumni represented the blue and gold from July 10-12 at the University of Windsor's Alumni Stadium.
Over the three-day competition, Lancer athletes combined for 21 podium finishes, including eight gold medals, seven silver medals, and six bronze medals. In addition to the medal performances, another 21 Lancers recorded top-eight finishes in their respective events.
Leading the way were recent graduates and 2026 U SPORTS gold medalists A.J. Stanat and
Noah Costa, who captured two gold medals each. Stanat claimed victories in shot put (17.61m) and discus (47.23m), while Costa won the 800m (1:50.89) and 1500m (3:48.97).
Pole vaulter Grace Elford continued her impressive outdoor campaign by winning with a clearance of 3.85m. Alumnus Nick Neri earned the gold medal in the para 1500m with a time of 4:18.33, while
Ben Tilson won the 400m hurdles in 51.87. Alumnus Madison McLean rounded out the gold medal performances with a winning throw of 45.77m in the open javelin.
The Lancers also captured seven silver medals, led by a strong group of incoming recruits. Kaitlyn Gravelle placed second in the U20 400m hurdles (60.90), Aidan Olivito finished runner-up in the U20 3000m steeplechase (10:02.22), Caleb Koch earned silver in the U20 hammer throw (53.08m), and Brydon Mitchell finished second in the open discus (43.30m).
James Wheeler, the 2025 OUA men's cross country rookie of the year, added a silver medal in the U20 3000m with a time of 8:45.63. Alumni Sydney Pattison (4:24.61) and Abdiaziz Ali (3:50.03) earned silver in the women's and men's open 1500m, respectively.
Bronze medal performances included incoming recruits Madison Gravelle, who finished third in the U20 100m hurdles (13.97), Peytyn Tulk, who cleared 3.55m in the pole vault to place third, and Max Milinkovic-Gene, who also earned bronze in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.50m.
Current Lancer Sarah Edwards claimed bronze in the U20 3000m with a time of 10:06.80, while Callista Daly earned bronze in the open high jump after clearing 1.65m. Ali added a second medal to his weekend, placing third in the open 800m in 1:52.65.
Several members of the Lancer track and field team will return to competition this coming weekend (July 24-26) at the Athletics Ontario Combined Events Championships in St. Catharines, Ont.
