The Lancer men's basketball team went undefeated at the RBC Classic this past weekend in St. Catharine's, ON.
Â
In the annual event hosted by the Brock Badgers, the Lancers faced the UQAM Citadins, the York Lions, and Dalhousie Tigers to claim the title.
Â
Windsor opened the tournament with a 79-76 win over UQAM. They played focused and pushed leads to 12+ at various times. However, they never sustained it and UQAM battled back to make the end difficult. Missed free throws and some mistakes down the stretch challenged the Lancers but ultimately they made enough plays to secure the victory.
Â
Despite a poor defensive effort in game two, the Blue & Gold came away with a 93-85 win over the Lions. Fortunately they scored consistently and got great contributions from Lucas Orilita and
Lukas Wood who both shot the ball well.
Â
The 83-75 win against Dalhousie was Windsor's most complete game of the year as they sustained focus defensively, shared the ball and had big plays from player after player. Dalhousie was at nationals last year and is expected to have a great chance to go back again this year. Windsor came out strong, answered every run they went on and pushed a lead late that we held on to. Timely 40% three-point shooting sealed the victory.
Â
The Lancers have one pre-season game left next Saturday afternoon at Lawrence Tech.
