Lancers split pre-season series with NCAA Panthers

The Lancer men's basketball team split a pair of exhibition games against the NCAA'S Drury Panthers this week at the St. Denis Centre.
 
Windsor dropped an intense first game to the visiting Panthers 68-61 Saturday, before rebounding Wednesday with a 71-68 buzzer beater win.
 
In game one, the Lancers held a 38-31 lead at the halftime and were up by 10 early in the second half, before the Panthers went on an 18-3 run to give them a 51-46 lead after three quarters.
 
Drury held the Lancers to 23 points in the second half and stifled Windsor to 25 percent shooting from the field in the third and fourth quarter as the Lancers connected on 6 of 24 shot attempts. The Panthers forced 21 turnovers from Windsor while committing just 10.
 
Mike Rocca led the Blue & Gold with 14 points and five rebounds.
 
On Wednesday, a three-pointer by Lukas Wood with three seconds remaining broke a 68-68 tie and thwarted a Drury comeback.
 
With the Lancers up 61-50 with 8:49 remaining in the game, the Panthers went on a 12-0 run to take a one point lead with 5:23 to go.
 
The Lancers bounced back to go up by as much as four but the Panthers responded and tied the game at 68 with 49 seconds left.
 
Rocca once again led the Lancers with 26 points. Windsor is now 1-2 in the pre-season and will now break until the end of September when they take on Lambton College.
