Box Score The Windsor Lancers hit the ice at home Friday afternoon against the Laurier Golden Hawks. The Lancers, in addition to trying to beat the Golden Hawks were also trying to beat bullying, hosting local students for the game to raise anti-bullying awareness.
Â
After splitting the weekend against UOIT last week, the Lancers were looking to get things going fast against the Golden Hawks. The Lancers fell behind early but battled back hard to win in quite the offensive manner, scoring four goals over the last 40 minutes of play, winning 5-4.
Â

GAME FLOW
Unfortunately for the Lancers, it was the Golden Hawks flying out of the gate. Late in the first period Anthony Sorrentino came down the ice to beat Windsor's
Paolo Battisti on an unassisted shot. Just a few minutes later Will Cook blasted a power play goal past Battisti to put the Hawks up 2-0. With time running out, Windsor's
Kyle Hope managed to put one past the Laurier goal in a quite literal last second goal to put the game to 2-1 in favour of the visitors heading into the break.
Â
The second period was one packed with offense. Early on it was the Lancers on the attack, when not even six minutes into the period
John Wesley tied the game for the Lancers. Ten minutes later
Dan Beaudoin gave them the lead by capitalizing on a rebound chance. The celebration was short-lived however, as Michael Silveri tied it up, sending the game into the final frame all tied up at 3.
Â
Again it was Windsor who struck first in the third period, this time
Ethan Skinner netted the goal for the Blue and Gold on a shorthanded chance. Not long after,
Ben Assad scored to give the Lancers their first two goal lead of the game. Laurier's Danny Hanlon made things scary when he cut the lead to one with just over two minutes to go in the game, but luckily Windsor stayed on top, taking the game 5-4.
