Box Score In one of their closest games of the seasons, the Lancer men's basketball team battled for a full sixty minutes but were unable to pull ahead of the McMaster Marauders, falling 84-80.
Â
GAME STATS
McMaster's Jordan Henry was the most dangerous shooter on the floor, amassing 25 points. The Lancers were led by
Telloy Simon with 20 points on the night.
Â
The Lancers again had two players in double-double territory with
Thomas Kennedy bringing in 11 boards and 11 points while Simon added 11 rebounds to his 20 points.
Â
Despite the loss, the Lancers shot significantly better than the Marauders, hitting 42 per cent of their looks compared to McMaster's 39 per cent.
Â
GAME FLOW
The Marauders were efficient out of the gate scoring early and often. Connor Gilmore led the Marauders with a tough to guard three-point stroke and tough interior game. The Lancers went to their bench early and it paid off with some solid production from Simon and
Anthony Zrvnar who gave the Lancers the lead with a big three pointer.
Â
The game turned into a dog fight with multiple lead changes and tight scoring chances, fitting for two teams siting back to back in the standings. Unfortunately for the blue and gold, they went ice cold down the stretch and went into the break down 48-38.
Â
The Lancers came out of the cold spell in the second half but couldn't get themselves back in front of McMaster, who's offense was consistently producing. The Marauders kept going to the post and the Lancers were helpless as McMaster worked away inside. As McMaster worked away inside, Windsor found their stride on offense scoring 26 points in the third quarter alone. Despite the productive quarter however the Lancers still trailed late into the fourth quarter and although they had a few opportunities late in the game they couldn't get it done, dropping the game 84-80.
