Abrams named to Junior National Team

Lancer men's volleyball up-and-comer Steven Abrams has been selected to the Team Canada junior national team. Abrams is the first Lancer in program history to be selected to the squad.

Due to current circumstances, Volleyball Canada has announced that athletes will take part in virtual training and Team Canada on boarding for the summer months of 2020. Programs would include support from Team Canada staff on technical, tactical, physical and mental skill development.

"Our whole team of players and coaches are very pleased and proud at seeing this news," said Lancer head coach James Gravelle. "Steven has all the tools to be an elite Libero and it is exciting for him that the Canadian national team has identified his talent."

In his first year with the blue and gold, Abrams made a huge splash with the program. He had a total of 106 digs to rank seventh overall in the league and ninth overall in digs per set with 1.63, en route to being named to the OUA all-rookie team.

"We are proud of his selection to the junior team which is a first for our program," Gravelle continued. "With four more years of eligibility we are excited to continue to see his development in the years to come."
