Kevin Hamlin, head coach of the University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey team is pleased to announce the addition of goaltender Dakota Lund-Cornish for the 2021-22 season.
Â
Lund-Cornish joins the Lancers following a four year career in the QMJHL, and will study in the Odette School of Business in the fall.
Â
"We are extremely fortunate to include Dakota into the fold with our future Lancer team," said Hamlin. "He is a player with a wealth of CHL experience and is an excellent technical goaltender. His size and ability to move east-west will enable him to excel at this level. He's an excellent addition to an already impressive recruiting class."
Â
A native of Upper Tantallon, NS, Lund-Cornish has played 111 games in the QMJHL and played the last two seasons with the Moncton Wildcats. He has faced 2966 total shots and boasts a 0.887 save percentage.
Â
During his first year in the league with the Charlottetown Islanders in 2017-18, the 6'3 goaltender set a league regular season record for most saves in a shoot-out with 11. The following year, while playing with the Sherbrooke Pheonix, he set another league record, this time with most shots faced in a playoff game with 72.
Â
"I am extremely honoured to call Windsor my home for my university career. I have heard nothing but good things about the school and hockey program and can't wait to get started," commented Lund-Cornish. "I hope to come in and give the team a chance to win every night I can. From what I've seen it looks like a great group of guys that I know want to win."Â
