Windsor finishes fourth at OUA Track & Field Championships

The Lancer men's and women's track & field team each placed fourth overall at the OUA track & field championships Saturday at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
 
The Lancer men racked up 97 points in the team standings, while the women scored 64.5 points.
 
The Guelph Gryphons captured the team titles on both sides of the competition, while the Western Mustangs placed second and the Toronto Varsity Blues claimed the bronze medal.
 
FULL RESULTS
 
Mandy Brunet secured her second medal of the meet with a gold in the women's triple jump. The senior placed first overall in the event with a jump of 12.47m. Teammate Jaidyn Nyhoff captured the bronze at 12.11m.
 
Anthony Atkinson also claimed his second medal of the meet in the men's shot put. His throw of 15.30m claimed him the bronze medal, while teammate Zion Webb brought home the silver with a throw of 16.34m. Following the weekend, Webb is not No. 7 in the U SPORTS rankings in the men's weight throw, and No. 8 in shot put. 
 
Will McBride captured a silver medal in the men's 600m with a time of 1:20.82, while Owen MacNeill claimed bronze in the men's triple jump with a jump of 14.80m and Caleb Keeling brought home bronze in the men's high jump at a height of 2.08m. MacNeill is not ranked No. 4 in U SPORTS following the championships, and Keeling is now tied at No. 7. 
 
The Lancer saw success in the relays, claiming three bronze medals on Saturday. The team of Brittany Van Hooft, Emma Floris, Maya Metivier, and Emma Kljajic finished third in the women's 4x200m relay in a time of 1:44.11, while Van Hooft, Camryn Williams, Floris, and Isabella Goveia ran a 3:55.24 in the women's 4x400m.
 
On the men's side, Ryan Mahabir, McBride, Noah Waldmann, and Ben Tilson placed third in the men's 4x400m with a time of 3:20.45.

Also improving on their U SPORTS rankings following the championships are Devin Baker at No. 4 and Will McCracken at No. 6 in the men's heptathlon. Windsor also saw 20 personal bests set at the meet.
 
UP NEXT
Windsor will now prepare for the U SPORTS national championships from March 9-11, 2023 at the University of Saskatchewan.
