Eybergen wins U SPORTS Bronze Medal

Lancer cross country standout Madelyn Eybergyn added her name to the Lancer history books capturing the individual bronze medal at the U SPORTS national championships Saturday in Kelowna, British Columbia.

The former high jumper finished the 8km race in a time of 27:02 to place third overall and be named a first team all-Canadian. UBCO's Lauren McNeil claimed the individual gold, while Constance Nankivell placed second.

Eybergyn became the first Lancer since Stef Smith to claim an individual medal at the championships. Smith captured the individual bronze medal in 2015 finishing the 6km race in 20:25.4.

On the men's side of the competition, Jacob Fitzpatrick completed the 8km course with a time of 24:13 to place 29th overall while Luke Mawhinney finished 34th in a time of 24:20.
