The Lancer track & field team accomplished their season goal of reaching the podium at the OUA championships! Both the Lancer men and women placed third overall in the team standings.
The Western Mustangs swept the provincial titles for the first time in their program history, while the Guelph Gryphons placed second on both sides of the competition.
DAY 2 RESULTS
FINAL TEAM STANDINGS
AJ Stanat and
Owen MacNeill both claimed two medals for the blue and gold over the two day competition. Stanat placed first overall in both the men's weight throw and shot put, while MacNeill was third in the long jump and triple jump.
The championship also saw five Lancers make moves in the team's all-time top ten. Stanat's bronze medal throw of 17.11m in the men's shot put moved him into the No. 3 spot, while MacNeill slides into the No. 10 spot in the men's long jump with his bronze medal jump of 7.22m.
Senior
Mandy Brunet moved into the No. 4 spot on the women's triple jump list as she claimed silver in the event with a personal best jump of 12.64m.
Grace Elford was third in the women's pole vault claiming her first career OUA medal, and moved into a tie for No. 2 in the event with a height of 4.00m.
Ema Kralik also moved into a tie for No. 7 on the pole vault list with her height of 3.80m.
Also claiming medals on day two of the competition were
Ben Tilson and
Noah Waldmann who finished one-two in a very exciting men's 600m,
Nojah Parker claimed silver in the men's pole vault,
Harley Martin won bronze in the women's weight throw, and
Caleb Keeling also brought home brinze in the men's high jump.
