The University of Windsor Lancers track and field team wrapped up their first home meet of the 2025-26 season as they hosted the 43
rd Can-Am Classic at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse on the weekend of January 9-10.
The meet was highlighted with two Lancer records and a U SPORTS qualification, as
Isabella Goveia set the school record for the women's 1000m with a time of 2:46.93 on Saturday, besting the previous mark set by Olympian Melissa Bishop and qualifying for U SPORTS in the process. On Friday,
AJ Stanat set the school record in the men's shot put with a distance of 18.44m.

WOMEN'S RESULTS
On the track,
Ella Heredi placed fifth in the 600m with a 1:37.82 time. Following Goveia's 2:46.93 U SPORTS and school record in the 1000m to place third,
Natalie Fortier placed fifth with a 2:56.49 time.
Maya Metivier's time of 41.35s earned her fourth place in the 300m and
Nadia Pupatello came a close fifth with a 41.41s time.
Joelle Olla took home second place in the one mile with a time of 4:55.98, and
Samara Quanz was sixth at 4:59.66. The quartet of
Madalynn McGregor,
Danielle Heard,
Kelis Daye, and
Tessanne Samuels placed fourth in the 4x400m with a time of 4:06.90.
The field events were highlighted by
Delaney Hall's 1.62m mark in the high jump, putting her in a three-way tie for second place, with Calli Daly coming in fifth at 1.57m.
Harley Martin finished third in weight throw with a 15.28m mark.
Mikayla May tied for fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.52m, followed by
Riley Robitaille in sixth at 5.45m and
Hannah Vanhartingsveldt at 5.42m.
MEN'S RESULTS
The Lancers took control of the 1000m as
Noah Costa won the event with a 2:25.55 time and
Abdullahi Abdullahi's 2:26.13 was not far behind for second place, and
Wyatt Ribchester (2:31.81) and
Andrew Taylor (2:33.34) rounded out the top ten.
Mohamad Alkaaby earned a second-place finish in the 600m with a time of 1:22.69, followed by
Kai Luong in fourth at 1:22.87. The 300m saw
Ryan Holly place third with a 35.15s time and Damilare Okeyinka in fourth with a 35.28s time, with Will Duncan crossing the finish line in 35.53s for sixth place.
Andreas Pardalis and
Kade Campbell placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the one mile. The relay team of Okeyinka, Alkaaby, Luong, and Duncan finished fifth in the 4x400m with a 3:27.75 time.
In the field,
AJ Stanat had the top spot in the weight throw with a toss of 17.00m, 0.5m more than second place.
Colin Dawson's mark of 14.41m earned him seventh.
Aiden Molenhuis's 1.88m best in the high jump placed him in a tie for fifth.
Tristen Miscia jumped for 6.48m in the long jump.
