The University of Windsor Lancers track and field team competed in the YSU Mid-Major Invitational on January 30-31 at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, claiming five first-place finishes in a strong team showing at their final American meet of the season.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
Riley Robitaille earned an automatic qualification for U SPORTS in the pentathlon. She won shot put with a throw of 11.20m, tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.53m, and placed seventh in long jump at 5.73m. The fourth-year pentathlete set a Mid-Major Invitational record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.95s, but placed second as a runner from Duquesne set a new best. She placed second in the 800m with a 2:21.60 time.
Grace Elford placed third in pole vault by clearing 3.87m on her second jump.
Harley Martin's weight throw toss of 15.55m placed fourth in the elite division, and
Jacqueline Turner had a throw of 13.68m. Martin had a 10.98m toss in shot put for eleventh. Mikayala May won the long jump with a 5.86m leap,
Maya Joaquin came third at 5.39m, and Hannah Vanhartingsveldt sixth at 5.33m. May also won triple jump at 11.97m, and
Chloe VidAmour placed third at 11.66m.
Maya Metivier,
Nadia Pupatello, and
Kelis Daye finished owned the podium in the 500m, placing 1-2-3 with times of 1:16.56, 1:17.03, and 1:17.42, respectively.
Layla Masse had a 1:20.71 time for seventh.
Nicole Seagris won the 1000m in 2:57.03, and
Cadence Tait (3:03.00) finished fourth and
Selena Guarasci (3:08.95) in sixth. Seagris set a personal best in the one mile with a 5:02.38 time for third place in the elite division, and Tait ran it in 5:11.40. Guarasci's one mile time of 5:23.85 placed her tenth.
Cali Marles' time of 25.50s in the 200m earned her seventh place, followed by Metivier in eleventh at 25.69s.
MEN'S RESULTS
Jason Leoni placed third in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.84m.
Jayce Hill's long jump distance of 6.69m placed ninth, and
Colin Dawson had a 14.31m distance in weight throw. Dawson earned a tenth-place spot in shot put with a 13.96m throw.
Peter Lodu finished the 500m in 1:07.57 for fourth place, followed by
Malachi Kenny (1:08.00) in seventh,
Will Duncan (1:08.59) in ninth, and Damilare Okeyinka (1:09.53) eleventh.
Andrew Taylor grabbed a podium spot in the 1000m with 2:31.14 time to earn a third-place finish.
Cameron John-Dunslow placed twelfth in the 200m with a 22.38s time, and Okeynika had a 22.71s mark.
Max Fazecash cracked the top ten with a ninth-place finish in the 3000m with an 8:39.03 time and
Owen LeBel placed eleventh in 8:41.23. The Lancers wrapped up the day with a podium finish as the 4x400m team earned third place with a 3:21.90 time.
