The University of Windsor Lancers track and field teams took home ten medals (three gold, four silver, three bronze) on day one of the OUA Track and Field Championships in Toronto, Ont. on Friday, Feb. 20. Both the men's and women's teams sit third place in the overall team standings.

Colin Inglis was thrilled with the performance of the blue and gold: "I'm very proud of how our team competed today. From the very first event straight through to the final race, our athletes showed up ready to compete and supported one another throughout the meet. It's clear that we've taken a significant step forward as a program and are demonstrating greater depth, resilience, and competitiveness than we did last year."
WOMEN'S RESULTS
The women's 4x800m team of
Natalie Fortier,
Ella Heredi,
Joelle Olla, and
Isabella Goveia continued their season-long dominance with another first-place finish, winning gold in 8:52.91, an eleven-second gap ahead of second place, and bettering their performance as they improve upon their previously clinched spot in U SPORTS.
Grace Elford continued her U SPORTS-bound season with a 4.05m mark in high jump earn silver, and
Mikayla May won silver with a leap of 6.04m in long jump, clinching a U SPORTS berth in the process.
Samara Quanz's time of 9:37.56 in the 3000m won her a silver medal.
Goveia won bronze in the 1000m with a 2:47.33 time, followed by Fortier in sixth (2:52.49).
Riley Robitaille won bronze in the pentathlon with a total score of 3622. Her day was highlights by a second-place finish in the 800m and third-place in shot put.
MEN'S RESULTS
Noah Costa and
Abdullahi Abdullahi won gold and silver, respectively, in the 1000m. Costa crossed the finished line in 2:26.90 and Abdullahi in 2:27.88. Costa,
Kai Luong, Abdullahi, and
Noah Waldmann won yet another 4x800m race to win gold, this time with a mark of 7:35.19.
AJ Stanat placed third in weight throw, as his 17.13m toss earned him a bronze medal.
Zach Clarke finished close behind in fourth with a throw of 17.12m.
Tristen Miscia currently holds first place in the heptathlon by a 276-point margin. He finishes first in the 60m (7.16s), long jump (6.90m), and shot put (13.66m).
Aidan Molenhuis holds fourth place, which includes a 1.88m leap to win high jump. 60m hurdles, pole vault, and the 1000m remain tomorrow.
