Lancers overcome 19-point deficit to top McMaster

Box Score The No. 8 Lancer men's basketball team came from behind to defeat the host McMaster Marauders 93-77 on Wednesday night in Hamilton.

Trailing the Marauders 32-13 after the first quarter, the Lancers found their legs in the second and opened the period with an 11-2 run to cut the Marauder lead to ten. The Lancers continued to chip away at the Marauder lead and narrowed their deficit and only trail by seven at the half, 51-44.

The game's momentum was clearly on the Lancers' side as they forced several turnovers, and senior guard Josh Collins started to heat up from the outside to help turn the tide. The Lancers won the third quarter 24-11 and held a 68-62 lead heading into the fourth.

McMaster continued to struggle against the Windsor press and the Lancers' confidence blossomed with Mike Petrella and Enrico Diloreto helping build the advantage and help close out an impressive Lancer win.

Windsor had four players finish in double-figure scoring, with Diloreto leading the way with 18 points. Collins had 17 points in the game, while Lien Phillip chipped in 16, and Petrella had 14.

TVCogeco will re-air the game on Thursday January 17th at 1:00pm, and the Lancers will return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Guelph to face the Gryphons at 4:00pm.
