Donoso named OUA Athlete of the Week

University of Windsor Lancers men's hockey player Max Donoso has been named an OUA Athlete of the Week for his play on the weekend of January 3-4.

In two wins against the Brock Badgers, the second-year goaltender stopped 72 of 74 shots as the Lancers prevailed 4-1 and 3-1. These two wins propelled the Lancers into a tie for first place in the OUA West with the TMU Bold at 22 points. Through 16 games this season, Donoso and the Lancers hold a 10-4-2 (W-L-OT) record.

On Saturday Donoso made 41 saves, including 22 in the third period, as the Lancers won 4-1. He followed that up with a 31-save showing less than 24 hours later in Windsor's 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon.

Windsor's 34 goals against are the second fewest in the OUA this season, in large part due to Donoso's play, who has played in every minute of every game with the exception of the third period in Windsor's 10-3 win over York at the end of November. Donoso ranks second the province with a 1.97 goals against average and fifth with a .930 save percentage. His 414 total saves place fourth.

Donoso and the Lancers hit the road this weekend with games at Brock and Western. Friday night's game against the Badgers is set for 6 p.m. and can be streamed online via oua.tv.
